The XXXVI Congress of the Eurasian Association of Trade Union Organizations of the Universities took place on September 7-10, 2023 at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and the Russian State Social University (Russian Federation, Moscow). The theme of the congress was “Professional mentoring in the labor force of modern universities.”
Before the start of the XXXVI Congress of the EATUOU, a meeting of the Presidium of the Association was held, at which the agenda of the Congress was approved, proposals were formulated on the composition of the Presidium of the EATUOU and the Supervisory Board. Members of the Presidium took part in planting lilac bushes on the EATUOU Alley on Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills) to replace the lost ones.
The delegates of the congress were welcomed by the Rector of Moscow State University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor A. Sadovnichy, General Secretary of the Eurasian Association of Universities, Vice-Rector of Moscow State University Nikolai V. Semin, Rector of the RSSU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrei L. Khazin, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of the RSSU Vasily V. Urozhenko. The speakers focused on the importance of the Association’s activities regarding the key issues of higher professional education, the importance of mentoring issues discussed at the congress in university work teams and wished the delegates successful, productive work.
Meetings of the congress were held in the main building of Moscow State University (first and second plenary sessions), the building of the Research Institute of Mechanics of Moscow State University (third plenary session) and the main building of the Russian State Social University (fourth plenary session).
Chairmen of trade union organizations from 35 universities of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic took part in the congress. Among the participants of the congress were 52 delegates from universities of the countries which affiliate the EATUOU, as well as numerous guests from the Central Council of the All-Russian Trade Union of Education, the Moscow Organization of the All-Russian Trade Union of Education, the Head of the Municipal Sistrict of Ramenki S.N. Dmitriev, trade union activists of Moscow State University and the Russian State Social University.
At the congress, 25 delegates representing universities of the EATUOU member countries made presentations and reports.
Having heard and discussed the report of the President of the EATUOU I.B. Kotlobovsky, “Professional mentoring in labor collectives of modern universities”, speeches by the chairmen of trade union organizations of employees and students of universities of the countries which affiliate the EATUOU, the delegates noted the relevance and importance of the issues of sustainable development of universities discussed at the Congress and the related tasks of preserving educational and scientific institutions, involvement in the work of young specialists, the formation of a favorable working atmosphere and modern social infrastructure. In the speeches of the delegates of the Congress, the experience of interaction between trade union organizations of universities with the rector’s corps on the development and support of modern forms of mentoring in universities, established practices of developing additional competencies and professional skills among employees was widely presented, which allows emphasizing the significance and relevance of the EATUOU as a unique organization of public diplomacy, confirms the need for fruitful cooperation of the Association with sectoral Trade Unions of education of the EATUOU member countries, federations of trade unions and associations of rectors.
Based on the results of the congress, a resolution was adopted (attached).
As part of the cultural program, excursions to Mosfilm, the historical building of the Russian State Social University (the former building of the Comintern), VDNKh and a visit to the Moscow Youth Palace performance “Don’t be afraid, I’m with you” were organized for the delegates of the congress.
