The XXXII Congress of the Eurasian Association of Trade Union Organizations of the Universities was held on September 18-21, 2019 at Baku State University (Azerbaijan Republic). The topic of the congress was “Social and labor relations at the universities in the context of global integration and increased competition.” The congress was dedicated to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Baku State University.
The congress was attended by the heads of trade union organizations of 40 representatives of 29 universities of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan Republic, Republic of Belarus, Kyrgyz Republic, Ukraine, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, as well as the active members of the trade union, managerial staff, professorial staff and heads of chairs of Baku State University.
Before the start of the congress, I. Kotlobovsky and F. Shiriyev were interviewed by the journalists of the program Teleutro of the First Channel of Azerbaijani Television.
Participants of the congress laid wreaths and flowers at the grave of the nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people, H. Aliyev and flowers to the grave of his wife Zarifa Aziz gizi Aliyeva, as well as to the grave of Muslim Magomayev. Then the congress participants visited the Alley of Honor, where they laid a wreath and flowers at the monument to the martyrs.
The first day of the congress was held in the Assembly Hall of Baku State University. Rector of Baku State University Elchin Safarali oghlu Babayev made a welcoming speech.
Welcoming remarks on behalf of the Executive Committee of the CIS, President of the Eurasian Association of Universities, Rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Academician Viktor Sadovnichy and Chairman of the Social Policy Council of Millimejlis, Mr. Hadi Rajabli were read. Chairman of the United Trade Union of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, President of the EATUOU I. Kotlobovsky congratulated the staff of Baku State University on the occasion of the centennial of the HEI.
The second day of the congress was held in the Assembly Hall of the Gobustan State Historical and Artistic Reserve.
29 delegates representing universities from all participating countries, as well as guests, made presentations and reports. Having listened and discussed the report of the President of the EATUOU I. Kotlobovsky entitled “Social and labor relations at the universities in the context of global integration and increased competition”, speeches by the chairmen of trade union organizations of the employees and students of the universities in CIS countries, congress delegates adopted a resolution (attached).
The hard work of the congress was accompanied by a cultural program. Excursions around the Fortress, to the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art were organized for the participants of the congress. The delegates attended a concert at the Philharmonic in honor of the anniversary of the outstanding Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov, made a “Night Baku” tour, a tour at Baku State University, visited the Gobustan historical and art reserve, rock paintings of the Paleolithic era of which are UNESCO-protected, took a trip on a warm boat on the Baku bay, a trip to the historical and archaeological reserve of fire-worshipers Ateshgah, made a trip to the sea beach in Bilgah.
The participants of the congress received brilliant impressions.
The congress delegates expressed their gratitude to the Rector of Baku State University Elchin Safarali oghlu Babayev, Trade Union Organization of the Employees of the BSU (F.A. Shiriev) for the excellent organization and provision with favorable conditions for the effective work of the congress.
For the great contribution to the development of labor, social-cultural and spiritual interests of working people, the strengthening and development of the international activities vice-presidents of the EATUOU F. Shiriev, I. Kerget, as well as member of the Supervisory Board of the EATUOU V. Vasiliev were awarded the breastplate of the FITUR “For the Commonwealth.”
According to the decision, made during the congress, the following universities became mebers of the Eurasian Association of Trade Union Organizations of the Universities: Trade Union Organization of Students of Khakass State University named after N. Katanov (chairman N. Kiriyenko), Trade Union Organization of Students of Kursk State University (chairman N. Tatarintseva), Trade Union Organization of Tyumen State University. Kubanychbek Zhumabekov, Chairman of the Joint Trade Union Organization of the Kyrgyz National University was elected as a member of the Presidium of the EATUOU.
