On September 10 – 12, 2010 in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) at the invitation of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, the 23rd Congress of the Eurasian Association of University Trade Union Organizations was held.
The agenda of the congress included the following questions:
- Results of the II Congress of the International Confederation of Trade Unions (ICTU) “First of all, people – from crisis to global justice” (Vancouver, Canada).
- Report on the work for the year and prospects for development of the EATUOU.
- Round table.
- Organizational issues.
About 40 delegates from 25 universities representing the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the Transdniestrian Moldavian Republic took part in the congress.
Four meetings were held.
Before the start of the congress, the President of the EATUOU I. Kotlobovsky read out the greetings and wishes of successful work to the participants of the congress of the President of the Eurasian Association of Universities, the rector of the Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov, Academician V. Sadovnichy.
Ekaterina Volkova, Chairwoman of the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of the ARC, and Aide Server Ablyatipov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine), made welcoming remarks.
The vice-president of the EATUOU Professor of the Kiev National University named after Taras Shevchenko, chairman of the trade union committee of the KNU V. Tsvykh made a report on the first issue of the agenda.
The delegates of the congress made an excursion to Balaclava, to the museum of the military history of Crimea, visited the exposition devoted to the Crimean war.
The final meeting of the XXIII Congress on September 12 was held in the form of a Round Table. A resolution of the congress was adopted.
The delegates of the congress planted a memorial alley of the Crimean pine in Beregovoye. The Crimean TV made several reports about the work of the Congress, about laying a memorial alley and filmed several interviews with the congress participants.
