A ceremonial event in honor of the anniversary of Moscow State University took place on January 25, 2025, in the State Kremlin Palace.
On January 25, 2025, in the State Kremlin Palace, a multi-thousand-strong team of Lomonosov Moscow State University gathered for a celebratory event in honor of the 270th anniversary of their native university. About 6,000 students, PhD students, professors, lecturers, employees, graduates and friends of Moscow State University took part in the grand event dedicated to the anniversary of the heart of Russian science, education and culture.
The day before, on January 24, on the eve of the foundation day of Moscow University and Russian Students’ Day, the President of the Russian Federation visited Moscow State University, where he chaired a meeting of the university’s Board of Trustees. Before the start of the meeting, Vladimir Putin presented the university staff with the Order “For Valiant Labor”. The award was accepted by MSU Rector Viktor Sadovnichy.
Among those invited to the MSU anniversary are members of the Russian government, heads of ministries and state agencies, about 300 university rectors from the Russian Federation and more than 45 foreign countries, ambassadors and other employees of diplomatic missions of the CIS countries, BRICS, as well as Hungary, Mexico, Cuba, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Lebanon and Vietnam.
The anniversary events were attended by members of the Presidium of the Eurasian Association of Trade Union Organizations of the Universities, members of the Supervisory Board of the Association, Chairman of the MCO of Trade Union of Education Konstantin Guzhevkin and Deputy Chairmen of the All-Russian Trade Union of Education Vadim Dudin and Larisa Solodilova.
The congratulations of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the MSU staff were announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Also, the university received congratulatory messages from the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairperson of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as other heads of foreign states and governments.
The ceremonial meeting was opened by the Rector of Moscow University, Academician Viktor Sadovnichy. An extensive concert program was prepared for the participants of the meeting from musical and choreographic groups of Moscow University, as well as famous Russian artists. The event was hosted by graduates of Moscow University, producer Yana Churikova and actor Valdis Pelsh.
