The XXXV Congress of the Eurasian Association of Trade Union Organizations of the Universities was held on March 03, 2023 at the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (Russian Federation, Moscow). The topic of the congress was: “Development strategy of the EATUOU and increasing the effectiveness of the interaction of the Association with the rectors’ corps and industry trade unions of education.”
The Congress was held on the dates of the XV Congress of the Eurasian Association of Universities, to which members of the EATUOU Presidium were also invited. On March 2, 2023 the EAU President, MSU Rector V.A. Sadovnichiy in his plenary speech paid special attention to the importance of the interaction of the rectors’ corps with the trade union organizations of universities and highly appreciated the joint work of the EAU and EATUOU in support of teams of workers and students. Following the results of the EAU Congress, the President of the EATUOU I.B. Kotlobovsky was elected to the Association Council.
Before the start of the XXXV Congress of the EATUOU, a meeting of the Presidium of the Association was held after which the participants of the meeting joined the participants of the Congress who connected online.
The congress was attended by the heads of trade union organizations of 39 universities of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
11 delegates representing the universities of the participating countries, as well as the guest of the congress, Chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Education and Science Workers T.R. Yakubovich, made reports at the congress.
After hearing and discussing the report of the EATUOU President I.B. Kotlobovsky, the speeches of the chairmen of the trade union organizations of employees and students of the universities of the member countries of the Association, the delegates of the Congress stated about the relevance and importance of the issues discussed at the Congress, noted the relevance of the Eurasian Association of Trade Union Organizations of the Universities as a unique organization of public diplomacy, confirmed the need for fruitful cooperation between the Association and the branch Trade Unions of Education of the countries, which are members of the EATUOU, trade union federations and rectors’ associations.
