On October 12-14, 2017, the anniversary XXX Congress of the Eurasian Association of University Trade Union Organizations was held at Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov. MSU for the ninth time hosted the heads of trade union organizations of universities of the Eurasian space. Since 1987, meetings of heads of trade union organizations of universities have been held at 22 universities in 6 countries.
More than 60 representatives of primary trade union organizations of employees, students and united trade union organizations of 30 universities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic took part in the work of the congress. The guests of honor were present at the congress: Rector of Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov, President of the EAU, Academician V.A. Sadovnichy; Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Eurasian Association of Universities , Director of the Kazakhstan branch of Moscow State University A.V. Sidorovich, Vice-Rector of MSU N.V. Semin, Head of the Ramenki Municipal District of the Western Administrative District of Moscow S.N. Dmitriev, Chairman of the Council of War and Labor Veterans N.N. Danilkovich, senior officials of the All-Russian Trade Union of Education of the Russian Federation.
On October 13, before the beginning of the session, the participants of the congress laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and the Memorable Stele to students and lecturers of Moscow State University who died during the Great Patriotic War.
EATUOU President I. Kotlobovsky opened on October 13 a plenary session of the congress in the marble foyer of the Moscow State University Cultural Center. Then, the President of the Eurasian Association of Universities, the rector of Moscow State University, academician V.A. Sadovnichy made welcoming remarks to the participants of the congress. He devoted his speech to the work of the Eurasian Association of Universities, stressing that the two organizations have a common task – to preserve the unified educational space of our countries, to preserve teaching methods and educational standards.
V.A. Sadovnichy thanked for the joint work members of the EATUOU and handed letters of gratitude I.L. Kerget (Yanka Kupala Grodno State University), F.A. Shiriyev (Baku State University), A. R. Avetisyan (Yerevan State University), S.E. Sorokin (Northern (Arctic) State University named after M. Lomonosov), V.A. Vasilyev (Chuvash State University named after I. Ulyanov), V.F. Tsvykh ( Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University), I.I. Melnikov (First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation).
I.Kotlobovsky read the congratulatory message to the delegates and participants of the congress of the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the former Chairman of the United Trade Union Committee of the Moscow State University, one of the founders of the EATUOU I.I. Melnikov; from G. I. Merkulov – Chairman of the Trade Union of Public Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The Public Chamber of the Union State of Russia and Belarus and a number of universities also sent greetings and wishes for successful work.
I.Kotlobovsky made a report named “The Eurasian Association of University Trade Union Organizations: Stages of the Path and Prospects for Development”. Referring to the history of the Association, he noted that a lot has been done over the past decades. At its congresses, the EATUOU has always discussed the most important issues of social and labor relations, regular monitoring of the level of wages in the education system. For thirty years, fruitful bilateral contacts have been established between many universities. EATUOU members actively participate in the activities of the Eurasian Association of Universities. At the international conferences “Universities and Society”, representatives of the EATUOU organized and conducted round tables on social and labor relations at the universities, improving the quality of education. The recommendations of the round tables were included in the resolutions of the conferences, and about 60 reports were published in the materials of the conferences.
During the break, the delegates made a joint photo with the rector of Moscow State University, Academician V.A. Sadovnichy.
After the break, the plenary session continued. A total of 25 people made speeches and presentations at three plenary sessions of the congress.
The reports highlighted the role of the Eurasian Association of Trade Union Organizations of Universities in the development of cooperation between universities, raised issues of the social status of workers and students, stressed the need to continue the exchange of useful experiences of social partnership.
Organizational issues were resolved: the elections of the EATUOU President were held. I. Kotlobovsky was reelected. The following persons were elected to the Presidium:

The possible options for the EATUOU emblem were discussed, it was proposed to complete the selection of the option by electronic voting.
Following the results of the XXX Congress, the congress adopted a Resolution.
In addition to the congress sessions, a rich cultural program was organized for delegates. Guests of the Moscow State University visited the departments of Moscow University: they visited the “Pharmaceutical Garden” – the oldest Russian botanical garden, the Museum of Geography, the Faculty of Journalism, the unique exhibition of the Anthropological Museum of Moscow State University. The delegates also visited the Zaryadye Park, which recently opened in Moscow, and visited the Kremlin.
