Session of the EATUOU Student Section in 2012

In March 2012, a meeting of the EATUOU student section was held in the Republic of Belarus (Minsk, Grodno).

At the trade union forum, representatives of the three countries shared their experience in supporting the young people.

Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala hosted a meeting of councils of chairmen of trade union organizations of higher educational institutions of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.

Trade union leaders discussed strengthening and developing cooperation. The experience of the protection of socio-economic, labor rights, legitimate interests of students by the Central Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Education and Science workers was presented. The peculiarities of the practice of social partnership, the issues of scholarships, the organization of rehabilitation, the ways to solve problems related to the paid form of education, the provision of accommodation in dormitories and the conditions for reimbursement of housing costs, and other pressing issues were also considered.

On March 28 and 29, the meeting was held in Minsk, on March 30 and 31, in the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

The rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Yerevan, A. Rovba, who warmly welcomed the leaders of student union organizations, took part in the meeting of the councils of the chairmen of trade union organizations of university students. Igor Kerget, Chairman of the Grodno State University Student Union, noted that the international cooperation of the coordinating councils demonstrates a positive experience of interaction within the framework of joint activities of industry trade unions, bilateral cooperation, and the Eurasian Association of University Trade Union Organizations.

The participants of the joint meeting noted the significant dynamics in the development of the professional movement of students in Belarus. The issues are adequately reflected in the framework of the Agreement between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian Trade Union of Education and Science.

The joint meeting allowed the exchange of experience in coordinating councils, student union organizations, defining common trends for the three states in the field of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of students, charting solidarity positions for the further development of student union movement, addressing a number of student issues.
